The kids and I got through our first three day week of school just fine. I'm pleased to say my new student did extremely well. I'm sure he'll have a few bad days (which will mean I'll have bad days) but overall I think we're going to get along nicely.

Cal is in second grade now. He managed to be placed with the teacher he thought he would get. The fact that she was probably the only second grade teacher he knew I'm sure had nothing to do with it.

Duncan is in his final year (8th grade) at Kellogg Middle School. This will be my year to attempt to make him more organized. It may be a lost cause. I'll let you know by the end of the school year.

As I mentioned earlier my week went well with one minor glitch. The guy they hired to be my partner isn't going to keep the job. He wasn't going to be able to stay anyway because he found out last week he was accepted to graduate school. His area of focus is going to be in special ed but not with our kids. Hence, he wouldn't be allowed to do his practicum with us.

It also turned out that the job wasn't anything like he thought it would be and for the two days this week he was there he was miserable. Bless his heart. I tried to make it a lot easier for him but at least he knows that the special ed area he wants to focus on is definitely the one for him.

Now I have to wait for a replacement, which isn't too bad really. Today was actually an easier day since I knew right off the bat I'd have to be responsible for all of the teaching time. I had backup in the form of a Fircrest employee. That was good because he knew my student and didn't mind just hanging out while we did our school day stuff.

Probably Tuesday I'll have the same kind of help but a different Fircrest staffer. Ah well, I'll be pretty up-to-speed when the new one-one-arrives and both of us won't be feeling somewhat lost.
