More Snow! Argh!

Yes, we're getting more snow here in Oklahoma. It started yesterday and by early evening the roads were slick and hazardous. I'm expecting tonight to be the same once the temps start to drop. Currently we're getting steady light flurries (no freezing rain thank goodness) and the roads are good...slushy but good. That slush is going to turn nasty by the time people head home from work.

The good news is so far it doesn't look bad enough for the kids to miss school tomorrow. The buses ran fine today on the snowy streets and they should manage to get around tomorrow as well. Duncan will be disappointed but he's likely to have these snow days tacked on to the end of the year and should be thankful he's not getting one more day.

My phone calls each night are still going on much to Mike and the kids' dismay. It really does help me not worry so much and I've told them they're just going to have to deal with me being incommunicado for several hours each evening. I make things a little easier for Mike and get the dinner prepped beforehand. As the weeks have passed he's had to ask me fewer and fewer times where things are or what he needs to do. I knew his cooking skills would come back given enough practice.

I've gotten used to the calling routine and kind of enjoy it some nights when it means I can be shut up in my quiet room with no one to bother me. Making the calls is tedious so I keep the tv on very low and get to catch up on all sorts of trashy reality shows. The only bummer right now is our call area is consisently being hit by at least two other organizations (sometimes more!) about a week before I get to them. It makes for some low pick up numbers and is somewhat discouraging. I'm looking forward to those weeks where the pick ups are easy and the people aren't annoyed at being called so much.
