Busy, Busy, Busy
Seems like all I've done this week is run. Thursdays especially are busy right now. Mat Tots and soccer practice for Cal, Survivor, comic book day, swim lessons with the Coronado SE kids for the next couple of weeks...all combine to make Thursday go very quickly.
Mom and dad are heading to Houston this weekend for my cousin's wedding. I've never met this cousin and neither have my parents (she's the daughter of my uncle's second wife) but I thought they should go. Uncle John has a tendency to feel isolated from the rest of the family and it's good for an effort to be made to make him feel part of the totally fucked up and dysfunctional Baker clan. Don't you envy him?
Anyway...dad didn't want to spend the entire weekend and visit with his brother. They're leaving tomorrow morning around 9:30, arriving in Houston, driving the two hours to Beaumont where the hotel is. Then my uncle and aunt are going to pick them up and take them to their house in Vidor for a visit. My dad, weird man that he is, has decided that he will once again wear the suit he was married in to a wedding. He wore it to my Uncle BJ's wedding to my Aunt Gail several years ago. Spent the entire time bragging about how he still fit into the damn thing.
Well, my mom says it doesn't fit so well now. But he's still going to wear it...the entire time they're in Texas. Yes, he's not planning on taking a change of clothes since they'll be flying back Sunday morning (arriving in OKC around 9 am). He's not even taking shaving stuff or a change of underwear. I'd love to be sitting next to him during that 2 hour car drive to the Houston airport. I'm not sure he's really thought about how much hotter and more humid it is down there. Mom's thinking she'll take pity on him and include a change of clothes for him anyway.
Mom's not very happy about having to travel with him. He's likely going to show his butt several times during the trip. They're flying Southwest so there are no assigned seats. I encouraged her to get her own seat and not save one for him. If she's lucky he may end up sitting far away from her.
