Action Figure Geek Time
Went to Target with mom today to pick up a few household supplies. I don't want her to run out of vital things like laundry detergent while I'm in Seattle next week. As usual, we visited the toy aisle. Still no Superman Returns toys at Target. And no Justice League Unlimited die-cast figures. Grrrrrr. I need Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Atom if you happen to stumble across them in a toy aisle.
I did something I never do any more. I went to Wal-Mart. Really it was to see if they had any of the Wal-Mart exclusive Marvel line that includes Kitty Pryde. I have to have a Kitty Pryde action figure. I've got one that was a Wizard send-away but it's one of the early Toy Biz figures and is kind of lame. This new, multi-articulated figure even comes with her dragon Lockheed. Keen. No luck though. The shelves held exactly one Marvel figure and that was of Mystique. Don't want that one. [Okay. Went to find a link to the new Marvel line and discovered it doesn't ship until May. Yay!]
Wal-Mart did, however, yield a few of the new Superman Returns figures. I've seen pics of these online and was underwhelmed by the quality. Still I figured I'd pick up one or two because they're Superman action figures. I purchased the Kryptonite Smash figure. It's okay. He looks decent from the front. I like the fact that the toy has a swivel head so he can look up realistically. But when you turn it to the side he looks like he's lost most of his jaw in a freak plastic surgery accident.
And what's up with the burgundy red color for Superman's costume instead of bright, beautiful primary red? I like my Superman looking gaudy. Oh well. I'll be seeing this movie when it comes out in June. I'll probably even buy a few more of the toys. Damn I hope it doesn't suck.
