Puke-a-thon 2006 False Alarm?

Cal's feeling poorly. It started Tuesday night around midnight when he woke up and puked all over his bed. Not a pretty sight let me tell you. Mike took him into the bathroom to get him cleaned up and I stripped the bed and started a load of laundry (imperative). He felt better after throwing up but was groggy and half asleep. I went to bed with him and dozed until around 2:30 when I staggered to my own bed. Squirming child in a twin bed doesn't make for a restful night.

I hadn't been in bed long when I noticed Cal was standing by our bed. His stomach was hurting again. Mike, half asleep and not thinking straight, grabbed Cal and ran him to the bathroom so he could puke in the toilet instead of on the floor. Made it too but not without injuring himself. Goofball. After that bout of puking Cal wanted to sleep in our bed so I let him sleep with Mike and I went to his bed.

He slept fine until around 6 am when he woke up needing to throw up again. Not much in his stomach since everything had already been expelled with the previous two barfings. He looked so pathetic leaned over the toilet, his little back heaving. It was time for Mike to get up so I went back to my own bed and Cal soon fell back to sleep with a little help from our friend acetiminophin.

When we finally dragged our asses out of bed by 11 he was feeling much better. Alas, after lunch we had another puking incident. Then the rest of the day he was Mr. Energy. He ate fine last night (peanut butter & crackers) and slept through the night until 5:30.

This morning, however, he had a temp of 103.9. More meds and the temp came down to normal. It was amazing too because as soon as he didn't feel hot and achy any more he started playing. He went from whiny, clinging child to bouncing off the walls.

I'm sure I'll have more fever to deal with today. Just wish I knew what his body was fighting off.
