Back to the Normal Routine

The two E's are back in Seattle and the Hodge Lodge must return to its normal routine. Bummer. They left Saturday morning and let me tell you the house was quiet Saturday night. Of course, that could have also been because Mike was at the church all evening and Duncan was at a slumber party. Cal, Max and I were definitely unused to the quiet. We did have a fun week though. Emory was probably thankful to get home to her unchaotic life. I hope she gets to visit again.

Mike was busy all weekend helping with a special middle school age retreat. Kids from several states stayed all weekend at the church and participated in UU Youth bonding activities. He was there from 8 pm to 2 am on Friday and from 8 am to about midnight on Saturday. Can we say tired? He did have a good time though.

Sunday we took the kids to see Doogal. What a wretched flick. Evidently this is based on a French children's show that was also shown in the UK. It looked to be quite popular. I hope the French and UK versions of this film were better. I have a feeling that the reworking of the script for American audiences totally screwed this one up. There were far too many American pop culture jokes and they just didn't fit. Why would talking animals who live in a land populated by wizards with springs for bodies know about CSI? If you've got a kid who wants to see this movie, take them but bring something like an MP3 player to entertain yourself. Definitely worth missing if you can manage it.

Okay. So it's back to my regular routine. Mike nagged me in email about not blogging the entire week the two E's were here. I do have photos at www.kodakgallery.com so if you read this blog semi-regularly and are interested in our activities, email me and I'll shoot 'em your way. Now I must be off to do chores. Once again my laundry hamper is full....
