Combat Shopping

Okay. Not really "combat" since mostly what the day after Thanksgiving early bird sales call for is the ability to wait in line most of the night. Maybe it should be called Endurance Shopping. Yeah, that sounds better.

Well, Mike indulged in a little endurance shopping last night. After we left mom's around six, he, Duncan and his brother David went and camped out in front of CompUSA for their midnight sale. They got there around 7 and there were already people waiting in line. I sent plenty of blankets with them. They had chairs and they scarfed down lots and lots of hot coffee. Cal and I stayed home and watched Spongebob cartoons. Yeah, we had the better job.

Mike and Duncan made it back home around 1:30 and, since I'd already nixed the idea of Duncan staying up all night, he got into his jammies and crawled into bed with me. Mike and David headed to Best Buy to get a place in line for the sale that would start at 5am. Yeah, he's nuts. I think after Duncan had the fun of sitting out in the cold for several hours in front of CompUSA he probably wasn't quite as keen on the idea of waiting in front of Best Buy.

But Mike's sacrifice paid off. Mom now has a new computer. It's the same brand Mike got for me at Best Buy a few years ago (emachines). Now she can actually get good use out of her DSL. He also picked up a few other gadgets and chips for cameras and pocket PCs. Plus he bought some stuff to network mom's new computer and her old computer together. We figured setting the old computer up as dad's might be a good thing to do.

Today Mike will probably nap. We also need to go to Sears because the recumbent bike I bought when E was visiting is on sale this weekend for $100 less. We have to go today though because today is when my month's grace period ends. Talk about lucky. Not looking forward to that mall parking lot though.
