Another Lazy Weekend
Another lazy weekend comes to a close at the Hodge Lodge. I had big plans for Saturday and Mike getting a good start on the other half of the garage cleared away. The Neon is getting old and persnickity and the cold weather messes with it something awful. Mike, however, didn't succumb to my plans. While Duncan, Cal and I were off at Tae Kwon Do on Saturday morning he essentially got the garage tidied enough for the van to go in. I know. We had it cleared out months ago...what happened? Bikes happened.
Saturday afternoon the Hodge Lodge plus Duncan's pal Ryan and the two grandmas went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Yes, we were wacky enough to take a three year old to a 2 1/2 hour movie. He actually did very well. There was enough action to keep his attention and he only felt the need to wander during the last 30 to 40 minutes. This Harry Potter movie holds the distinction of being only the second Harry Potter movie in which I haven't fallen asleep. Two and three were snooze city for me. This one was quite entertaining.
After the movie we went with Mark and his family to Outlaw's BBQ for dinner. Cal didn't eat much because he was so ecastatic about being out of the movie theater. He and Mark's granddaughter had a great time playing while we ate. Fortunately Outlaw's doesn't do a booming late Saturday evening business. Cal had such a great time Mike dropped both of us off at Mark's house so the two kids could play a little longer. Mike took mom home and dropped Gayle and Duncan off at our place. By that time he was ready to pick us up.
Cal and I had a nice time at Mark's. I ranted a bit about OKC fandom much to Mark's amusement. He tried to get me involved in helping with the new SoonerCon. I have a lot of confidence in the con chair (Jerry Wall owner of Atomic Comics). I hope they pull it off. I'd like it to be done with the help of a totally new bunch of people too. Keep the cranky fans out of running this con. That includes me, btw. Mark is having fun with it and he's a totally responsible guy. But I would like to stay far, far away from anything smacking of fandom. I'm happy with our non-STAR get-togethers.
Sunday I crapped out on going to church school. Cal hasn't been doing a great job of sleeping through the night and anywhere from 2 to 4 am he'll wake up and I'll go to his bed and he'll go to mine. Last night something flew into my nasal passages and I was awake for a good hour and a half dealing with lots of sneezing. The actifed finally worked and I fell asleep but I sure didn't want to wake up at 8:15. I told Mike I wanted to stay home and sleep. I ended up sleeping until 11 am. Yowza.
Mike and the kids got home around 12:30. Mom came over as well because she wanted to get out of the house. She went with us to the LaserQuest place to book Duncan's birthday party on the 3rd. Then we went to the Super Target and Toys 'R' Us. Mom picked up an item for one of her Care Share kids but I didn't have any luck on a telescope for mine. He might get "sports stuff" which is the other thing on his wish list.
After that we came home and were slugs. Yet another lazy weekend at the Hodge Lodge bites the dust.
