Slugs ‘R’ Us

It's been an incredibly lazy weekend here at the Hodge Lodge. I had plans for painting on Saturday but we all slept in. Then we had to meet my cousin Kelsey and my aunt Gail for lunch before Kelsey boarded a plan for her annual trip to Michigan. We ended up hanging out at mom's until they left for the airport.

Did a whole lot of nothing when we got home. Swam a bit with Cal. Read some comics and watched a little tv. Wimped out and made everyone fend for themselves for dinner--leftovers night.

Sunday I was in a don't want to do anything kind of mood so Mike and Duncan went to see Rebound. Calvin went to mom's to play and I stayed home and sorted through my unread piles of comics. This doesn't sound like much but it's something I've been working on for the past three days (off and on, not non-stop).

I've finally gotten everything sorted and in easily readable piles. I'll try and keep up with it rather than letting the new sacks of comics end up everywhere. Think positive thoughts for me because my good intentions will probably fall apart at some point.

Duncan and Mike picked up Cal after the movie and came home. I didn't plan a damn thing for dinner and, besides, I was craving Chinese food. Our normal place to eat was closed so we had to resort to the dreaded Chinese Buffet. We usually go to a place called Chen's but I didn't want to wrestle Cal away from their turtles. I actually wanted him to eat.

We ended up going to another buffet closer to us (yes, there are far too many Chinese Buffets in this town). It was okay. They did have the Mongolian BBQ area, which I like because you can pick from a selection of fresh veggies and have them mixed up into a stir-fry right there. I can also get it spiced really hot. Yum.

Back home after dinner and more vegging. I watched a little tv and read some comics in my bedroom. Mike, Duncan and Cal puttered around in the rest of the house. Slept really well even with the nifty storms we had last night. Mike said at times it got so windy the house shook. Kinda wish I hadn't slept through that. Mike was good and stayed up with an eye on the weather to make sure we wouldn't have to head to the closet (tornado place).

Today we're going to veg some more. Actually I'm going to clean the kitchen and our bathroom. Will fold some clothes too probably. Also have some loads to wash. Then later this afternoon we'll head to mom's and then to Mustang to eat hot dogs and shoot off fireworks.

We're abandoning our usual camp out at the Bethany Freedom Festival because they're going to park cars in our area again. Last year was such a bummer because nobody could play in the field like in year's past. There was always a danger of being run over by some big ass SUV or truck. Kenny Rogers is the big guest this year and I bet the car traffic will be even heavier. It's just not as much fun hanging out by a big field, watching the people when you're being assaulted by car exhaust.
