4th of July Fun

The Hodge Lodge officially had a helluva lot of fun blowing crap up last night. We went to a big ol' park in Mustang (it's legal to do fireworks there) and met up with the non-STAR crew around 5:30. Mark's family was there and Karla and her crew showed up. Mom and Justin came as well.

Mark picked out a great spot near some shady trees (and a keen blackberry bush). Once we arrived, Mike set up our two canopies for shade. I cooked a bunch of hot dogs on mom's little Hibachi grill. We had a nice assortment of hot dogs, fruit, chips and soda pop.

As the evening wore on, more and more people started to show up at this park. Like us, they parked their cars around the perimeter and set out lawn chairs. Quite a few brought food. People had fun blowing up black cats and other noisy fireworks until it started to get dark. Then the light up fireworks were brought out.

Mark had a few fireworks and Mike spent around $160 on fireworks when we were in Texas. Yeah, I was really thrilled about that. Mike wasn't alone because there were a lot of fireworks going off. So much stuff was blowing up at times you couldn't see for all the smoke. It was way keen.

I alternated between watching the display and lighting a few fuses of my own but the majority of the destruction was wrought by Mike and Duncan. I figure I'll okay the expense again next year because they had such a fun time.

All told, it was a fun way to spend the 4th. We'll do it again next year for sure.
