Update on My Exciting Life
Let's see...work and home have been my life lately. Oh, and Ebay. I ended my final auction on Ebay yesterday. It didn't sell for as much as I'd hoped but at least it'll soon be out of my house and that's the whole point of my Adventures in Ebay.
I'll be putting more up eventually but I'm taking a break from selling on Ebay because this is the week I head out of town for the Oklahoma Special Olympics Summer games. Three days of walking, heat and dealing with kids. Fun! Actually it is fun but very tiring.
Normally I'd collapse Friday evening after we get back but we're heading to Lake Tenkiller for the weekend with my brother. I mentioned a desire to rent a cabin at an Oklahoma lake for my 40th birthday and Justin figured this would be an opportune time to check out Lake Tenkiller's facilities. He's been there quite a bit but this will be my first time.
He's rented a cabin and the Hodge Lodge, my brother and my mom will all share the space for the weekend and hopefully have a relaxing, fun time. I'm not letting Duncan take his X-box or Gamecube so he'll be forced to go walking with us and enjoy nature.
This past weekend we got quite a lot done. On Saturday Duncan mowed our front yard and my mom's front and back yard for $15. I ran a few errands and around 4 pm we went to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It was a cute movie. I liked the cast although I don't remember there being a romance storyline in the books. Granted, it's been ages since I've read the books. The ending seemed rushed but if you're trying to cover five books in one movie I guess you're gonna rush things a bit.
Sunday was Mother's Day and Mike gave me a wonderful Mother's day present and took both kids to church school with him. I did absolutely nothing until they returned and we met my mom, brother, dad, Mike's mom, grandmother and brother at The County Line BBQ for lunch.
After lunch and the required pictures in the parking lot, we went home and proceeded to get our big junk to the curb for big trash haul off day on Monday. Mike also cleaned out the Neon. He even took the back seat out, which was a very good thing because Karl Kroenen's long lost mask was there. When I spend $18 on an action figure for Duncan I kind of like him to keep track of all the pieces. *sigh*
I threw away a whole bunch more crap from the garage. Swept and created a lot of dust and, in general, got really dirty. A bath later that evening was definitely in order. True, it wasn't the most spectacular way to spend Mother's Day but I was happy that we made so much progress on the garage and I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
This week will be spent getting ready for Special Olympics. I've started packing but haven't gathered up my clothes yet. Attire is pretty easy really--jeans and my 2005 Coronado Heights Elementary Special Olympics t-shirt. I also have to take bedding and towels because we'll be staying in the dorms. I'm looking forward to it but will be incredibly tired by the end I'm sure.
