Three Day Weekend

Off from school today. Don't have much planned beyond going to Target and Sam's.

Duncan has been invited to two birthday parties on Saturday. Both are for very good friends of his. Very good female friends who, unlike boys, will make Duncan's life hell if he doesn't go. So we're splitting his time between both parties. Ah, my son the ladies man.

As a result, I get to peruse Target for two gifts that might appeal to nine year old girls. I must admit I'm at a little bit of a loss. I know what boys like but the older girls get the less I know about their likes and dislikes. Hopefully Duncan will be some help rather than his usual "I don't know."

After shopping I hope I get time to tidy. The living room is a wreck of course. The computer room that last received a tidy is likewise looking fairly shabby. And let's not even talk about the kitchen. Not to mention the fact that it's time to start mowing the yard. The guy across the street put his house up for sale and I bet he *really* wishes he didn't live across the street from us. Our house is halfway painted, the yard needs mowing and one of the cars that's parked in the driveway has its window busted out.

Ah well, I'll rectify the mowing this weekend. I'll also undo some of Gayle's creative solar light placement as well. When we first moved in, she gave us some yard lights that are solar-powered. We were good and put them out although Mike didn't want them. She gave us another set a few weeks ago and moved the old solar lights (that don't match the new ones) to the sides of the house. It looks odd but I haven't had the time to pull the old ones up and move them to the back yard. I think I'll get the whole crew out with me on Saturday morning and we'll have some fun getting the yard done. No lazing around for them (or me).
