E has sucked me into Ebay and I started looking at yo yos there. Shipping on some of them was pretty outrageous so E, being a surfing guru, found me a keen place to order yo yos on line: www.yoyoguy.com. I ordered two, under ten dollar, wooden yo yos from them and the shipping was reasonable *and* they arrived damn quick. Very nice site with lots of cool stuff. Check it out.

I ebay way too much. But I have gotten lots of keen older stamps at or below face value. Also expanded my Tarzan collection considerably.
Having found what you wanted elsewhere, you probably won't get sucked into the ebay vortex, but it's good to see you caught at least one of the points one needs to be careful of, shipping. Many vendors inflate their shipping costs to make the opening bid price lower and more tempting. Hard to believe some things start at 1c with s&h at $100...
Another thing to be careful of is what they accept for payment. Don't assume everybody takes paypal or that everybody takes money orders. And some vendors charge extra if you use a particular method of payment.
A third thing, unless the vendor has very few feedbacks and you find a good excuse for the negative, don't go for anything from somebody with less than 98% positive feedback.

Aw...a ebay friend! Don't worry Okie is getting very good experience with her ebay adventuring...*grin*.
She seems to have the ebay bug currently...and she may not be alone.
Sometimes just the window shopping is grand...you can always be amazed at what others are actually willing to spend there money on. posted by E : 5:54 AM
And I'm not so anonymous there. In fact, on eBay I am a KING!

Yes, my Ebay guru has been teaching me well. I know to watch for those shipping charges and to make sure they take Paypal.
I must say this Ebay experience has been more positive than my first one. I ordered an item, sent off my check and never heard from the person again. Their email bounced and I ended up hunting in vain for a way to leave a complaint at Ebay about this vendor. Yes, this was in the early days. posted by Tamara : 7:34 PM
