Well, looks like STAR OKC may finally be going away. The gal who signed up to lead the crew just resigned. Yep, one meeting after the new order of no officers/no rules. Too freakin' funny. And sad.
I suggested to Mark that we dump the club. Let the mean fans who want to form the anti-STAR do their thing. It sounds like the group starting this other club is doing so with an attitude of we're not them! and I hope it bites them in the ass.
For now I told Mark we could just get together once a month for dinner and a movie and forget about STAR and worrying about membership. This will probably make Mark sad but it's a relief to me.

Me sorry. Relief and not. After what you said earlier it only seemed to me that the new prez was headed in that direction. posted by E : 9:29 AM
It's certainly a change from her speech at the January meeting--STAR was worth being saved because it was a fun group with nice people in it, blah, blah, blah. By February STAR was a chore full of people she didn't want to hang out with. Weird.
I'm all for scrapping the damn thing. I'm too old to be in a Science Fiction fan club. The only reason Mike and I went back was the President at the time was talking about booting one of the members because former members cited him as the reason they didn't come to meetings any more. I hate that kind of elitist shit from self-confessed geeks who probably received the same kind of treatment as kids. posted by Tamara : 9:35 AM
The Daystar Holt, allegedly an ElfQuest fan club, rarely talks about EQ at its meetings. We don't do the newsletter or the calendar any more. But we get together on a regular basis, some of them even being called meetings. At the meetings the business tends to be where the next meeting is going to be and/or who's holding the next party. It's pretty much just an excuse for friends to get together.

Yeah, that's what we'll do. Mark would be too sad otherwise. He's been a member the longest of anyone. posted by Tamara : 7:03 PM
