Countdown to Reno
I leave for Reno, Nevada on Friday evening. Mike and I both are going actually. Mom will be staying with the kids until the following Thursday when we get back around 11:30 pm.
As a result, I'm attempting to get the house somewhat organized for mom's stay. She's not one of those moms who takes it upon herself to reorganize my clutter but she will feel obligated to do some tidying and I'd like to keep that to a minimum. I've gotten the bathroom ship shape. Our bedroom is moderately tidy. Duncan's room looks okay. I need to tackle Cal's room and the rest of the house this week. I did manage to get the kitchen counters looking halfway decent. Now I just need to mop in there and perhaps wipe down the shelves in the refrigerator.
I had intended to paint this weekend but we didn't get to it. Saturday we drove to Norman to watch my cousin Kelsey play in a soccer game. That took up most of the day and then we came home and were lazy.
Saturday night I wanted to sleep really well so I took some of my old generic percocet from my surgery. Not a good idea. I'm not sure if it was the drugs or what I had for dinner (or a combination of the two) but I woke up the next morning feeling like I was hungover. Then I puked. Twice. Felt better after emptying the contents of my stomach but I was wiped out the rest of the day. I just rested and didn't do much of anything.
So this week I must be healthy and get everything done before leaving for Reno. Probably won't be able to work in a day of painting. We'll just have to see about doing that the weekend after we get back from Reno. And if the cold weather hits before we get the final coat on the house, there's always the Spring. At least we got everything covered with a sturdy coat of primer.
