3x Thursday

1. Can you pick out a particular time in your life when you felt absolutely and totally helpless? Explain. Did things work out?

Tough question. Maybe when I was going through labor for the first time. You're swept along on an unending tide of pain, not knowing when it'll end. You just have to trust that your body knows what it's doing and that the medical professionals are skilled enough at their jobs to recognize when things aren't going smoothly. Everything did work out well in the end although it almost didn't. By the time they sped my dilation along, my placenta had already started to break down and that's usually not a good sign. In hindsight, I probably should have had my labor induced with the first child. For some reason my body likes to cook those babies for a long time.

2. How are things going for you right now? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Explain.

Eh, pretty good. I haven't had any horrible bouts with depression. I could do without all of these unexpected expenses that keep popping up.

3. What's your attitude about the future? Are you looking forward to it, or dreading it? Or are you just one of those people who doesn't care? Why/why not?

Looking forward to it definitely. I'm excited about seeing how my kids turn out as adults. Maybe they'll even give me grandkids some day and I can finally be called 'Granny'. In the short term, I'm looking forward to my trip to Reno to see E. It'll also be nice to have time away with Mike and no kids.

Bonus Question for Comments: Does everything happen for a reason, or just randomly?

I've never subscribed to the idea that some force controls our fate. Although I must admit it's nice to go back later and see how small little connections can change your life. When you look at things this way, I can see how people might believe in predestination.
