Around our house mornings mean nagging. Duncan is like me as a kid. He's slow to get up and get moving. It's a constant struggle to get his butt in gear.
Yesterday he woke up all whiney and cranky. He said he felt sick to his stomach. He cried and moaned. As a result, he moved even slower and we had to drive to school. I hate driving to school unless the weather is bad because we live so close. The walk is nice, it's good exercise. But yesterday walking just wasn't gonna happen. To Duncan's credit, after he ate a bagel for breakfast he perked right up. But by that time the slow-moving damage was already done.
Today was better. He woke up in a relatively good mood. He dressed with enough time to cook himself an egg for breakfast--he loves the fact that he knows how to cook scrambled eggs. But then he slowed down when it came time to complete the getting ready for school process.
I did my usual nagging and we walked to school. But boy did he complain. He hates walking to school. He'll be much happier when winter rolls around and the weather turns too cold to walk. Of course, we'll wait until it's really cold. After all, if you walk fast enough it keeps you warm.
