What the-?

Our projected high today is 76. 76?!? Okay, I know. Oklahoma has weird weather. But I really do miss the heat.

Oh well...on to more interesting things than the weather. Sadly they're only a tad more interesting than the weather.

Last night Mike and I dumped the kids on my mom and went out for dinner and a movie.

After dinner we had a little time to kill so we browsed a Borders that's near the movie theater. It's always nice to be able to browse a bookstore without Calvin. Duncan was much easier to take into a bookstore at the same age. Calvin develops an overwhelming urge to run everywhere and grab books randomly. Yeah, that kinda makes browsing difficult unless you're skilled at browsing on the run.

I wasn't going to buy anything but I ended up buying a new (to me) Charlaine Harris mystery. It's really small and should only take me a few hours to finish but I really enjoyed her Sookie Stackhouse mysteries so I'm going to give the Lily Bard series a try.

I also picked up a copy of the Comics Buyer's Guide. Much to my surprise they're now monthly after being a weekly for most of their existence. I was a regular subscriber for a long time but stopped around the time Cal was born. I figured I'd check out the monthly edition and see if I wanted to subscribe again.

Then we went to see Napoleon Dynamite. The theater was fairly crowded, which was surprising. This isn't a big, Hollywood movie after all.

I'm not sure I can recommend this movie wholeheartedly because I sat through most of it mystified. There didn't seem to be much point beyond watching oddball Napoleon interact with his oddball relatives and slightly oddball friends. Perhaps the guys who made this movie have watched one too many John Waters flicks. The audience seemed to enjoy the picture but I was disappointed. I wanted a little more plot with my geekiness.

We picked up an already asleep Cal from mom's after 10. Duncan we left there because he wanted to spend the night. And then we came home to a blissfully quiet house.
