Those Wedding Day Blues
Not really. I just couldn't think of a good title for this entry and that one sounded catchy. Today is my 19th wedding anniversary. Cool, huh? Mike and I have been married that long and haven't killed each other yet. Wonder if we'll make it 19 more?
Today Mike's going to take a half day from work so we can do something like go to a movie and out to eat. Nothing fancy of course because we were slugs and didn't plan anything more exciting.
We spent all day yesterday in Lawton visiting my aunt Gayle and uncle BJ (and cousin, Kelsey). My aunt Barbara and uncle Charlie (along with my cousin Nicholas) also went to Lawton. It's kind of a tradition we've gotten into these last few years so that my dad's family can get together.
My grandma didn't go this year, however. She stayed home because she hasn't been feeling very well and she likes to stay away from anyone who might be concerned about her when she gets that way. Yeah, she's a little nutty but we're kinda used to it.
The kids had a great time swimming in Kelsey's pool. Duncan wanted me to swim but I hadn't thought to take my bathing suit so I got out of it. Cal liked the pool and could even stand up in the water but it was high enough that if any amount of splashing went on he would be inundated with water and get very upset. Plus he's got all that lovely baby fat that makes him buoyant and he wasn't very steady on his feet in that up-to-his-neck water. I slathered both kids up with sunscreen but they still managed to get a teeny bit of sunburn. Nothing bad--no blisters--but they had some redness. I should have re-applied the sunscreen. Tsk tsk on me.
We made it home around 8 pm last night and Mike and Duncan spent several hours messing with the pool in the backyard. It's not up yet but we're getting closer by golly.
This morning Duncan had to get his butt out of bed early so he could make it to day camp. The bus leaves from the Unitarian Church by 8 am and gets back around 4 pm. Then we'll hustle off to Tae Kwan Do. He's gonna be one tired kid by tonight.
Cal and I will putter around the house until Mike comes home for lunch I guess. I've got clothes to fold and put away. And I *still* haven't finished cleaning Duncan's room. And of course, there's now a ton of sand on my kitchen floor again thanks to all the pool set up work. *sigh* I managed a week without sand after mopping the floor. Oh well. I knew it was going to happen.
