Sand Update

Remember that pile of sand I mentioned a while back? It's still around. Yep, that puppy has been whittled down considerably but when you have a couple of tons of sand dumped in your yard it takes a little while to distribute.

The bulk of it has been moved to the spot in the backyard where the pool is going to be. Some of it was given to a friend of mine. My mother-in-law took a truckload to her house. And then, much to Mike's irritation, his mom decided we needed little piles of sand in various places in our back and front yard.

The spot at the side of the house where the recyle bucket and the garbage cans go--sand. All along the side of the house where the garbage cans aren't--a long path of sand against the foundation. The back of the large added on room--another long path of sand. Any holes Max dug along the fence--full of sand. The back part of the yard, also the flattest part of the yard, where Cal's sandbox and toys are--sand. In fact, one spot back there will be where we pile the excess sand. What will we do with that sand? I don't know. Perhaps we can go door to door and ask if anyone wants holes filled or sand laid along their foundation.

I'm just glad I stopped her from dumping sand in my front yard flowerbed. Well, it's not really a flowerbed. Right now it's got one lone hydrangea bush and a whole bunch of wild strawberries and grass. I need to get rid of the grass and get it back to just dirt. Haven't gotten around to that yet though. I guess having sand there wouldn't have prevented me from doing that at some point but there's something a little odd about having your house look like the beach is encroaching upon it especially when you live in a landlocked state.
