I had a really nice Mother's Day. It began with Cream of Wheat for breakfast and a cute card from Duncan that he made at school. I told Mike I got a trip to Seattle for my Mother's Day present and not to get me anything but he and Duncan picked up Freaks and Geeks on DVD and the new Loretta Lynn CD Van Lear Rose for me anyway.
We met Mike's brothers, Grandmother, Gayle, my brother and Mom at Eddy's for lunch. My grandma, as usual, opted out. And my dad stayed home as well. In case you're wondering that dynamic is fairly typical for my family.
Anyway lunch was nice and after it was over we went home. I wasn't up for more family time and I figured since I'm a mom too I should get to pick what I want to do on Mother's Day. So we went home and Cal and I played in the backyard while Duncan and Mike went to David's (Mike's brother) house to pick up some outdoor toys that were being stored in the old playhouse there. They didn't actually leave until Cal and I came in for a nap and we slept the whole time they were gone. Very cool. I got a nice Mother's Day nap too.
Now Cal has all of Duncan's old play dishes and fake food and the Fisher Price stove/sink/microwave/table combo playset is on our back porch. Cal had a nice time checking everything out and putting things in the play microwave. He really likes that microwave because it dings.
We at leftovers for dinner. Bonus! No cooking! And then to make it the perfect Mother's Day we watched the Survivor finale.
Yes, I am easy to please when it comes to Mother's Day.
