I Should Be Working

When this woman wanted love, she knew what to do--Dial M for Man by Orrie HittBut I decided to post an entry in the ol' blog instead. Cal is napping to the dulcet tones of Beth Orton. I find if I introduce sound into the nap as it begins he'll sleep longer than if it's totally quiet in the house.

It snowed like the dickens yesterday. The wind really howled and the flurries were flying. But when morning came there really wasn't that much snow on the ground. And now with the sun out, it's fast melting. It's still quite nippy out though. Winter has finally arrived in Oklahoma.

Yesterday I ran a few errands with mom and we noticed a big banner on a previously abandoned store site reading "Book Sale". Well, that's always gonna pique our interest so after lunch, mom, Mike, Cal and I went to check it out. Just as I figured it was one of those overstock book sales--table after table of lovely hardback books and a few softcovers. I ended up finding quite a few books for myself, a few for gifts and Mike found some as well. I ended up spending far too much money but it was worth it.

Here's the list: Spaceland by Rudy Rucker (Mike), Kushiel's Chosen and Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey (oooh, some fantasy smut for me to read!), Lift the Lid on Gladiators (this is one of those interactive book things they make for kids but I got it for me so I could have the gladiator figure), The Dinosaur Hunter's Kit (this is a gift for Duncan's Tae Kwan Do Christmas Party on Friday), Supertoys Last All Summer Long by Brian Aldiss (Mike's pick--the movie A.I. was based on this short story), The King's Name by Jo Walton, Chess for Dummies by James Eade, The Chess Doctor by Bruce Pandolfini, Bad Girls in the Big City Postcard Book (an ultra spiffy sample can be seen to the left), The Brothers Hildebrandt Tolkien Art Postcard Book, (a gift for my mother-in-law), and three of those cutesy mini books: The Mini Zen Gardening Kit, Quotable Cats and In Praise of Grandmothers. I'm sure with more time to browse and no Cal to chase I could have found even more goodies.

Well, I guess I should go find something quiet to do like fold diapers. Fun!
