The Great Sunday Night Puke-a-thon
Yesterday went quite well for the denizens of the Hodge Lodge. We puttered and rested. Duncan played with his pal Ryan for a few hours. Calvin seemed to be getting over his teething/cold.
And then, the evening came. After his bath, Cal was standing in one of the kitchen table chairs and decided to puke. Well, not really decided to puke. Puking is one of those unstoppable forces so he really had no choice. I thought he had just swallowed too much bath water and jostled it all around in his belly while hiking himself up on the chair.
Alas, that was not the case. Not too long after that incident he puked on Mike. Then he cried a lot while I was rinsing him off. So I sat with him and sang a bit and he fell asleep. Good deal. Maybe those two puking incidents were flukes.
'Twas not to be. He woke up crying after about thirty minutes. Mike and Duncan were doing the bedtime reading so I took charge of Cal and he proceeded to puke on me. After a change of clothes for both of us I put him to sleep once again and told Mike that I'd be sleeping on the living room floor tonight with Cal.
When we finally went to bed, Cal was sleeping soundly. He did well through the night and didn't seem to have a fever. Then around 4:30 am he woke up crying and I figured he might be hungry so I got the bottle of milk out of the refrigerator and he darnk it right up. Then, as he's squirming around trying to get comfortable he pukes up all that milk. *sigh* I had to remove five of our blankets because he ended up losing the milk right at the edge of the pallet thus gifting more than one layer with his stomach's bounty.
It's 1 pm now and he hasn't puked since this morning. He's napping and has been since about 10 am. Not too surprising really considering how awful his Sunday evening was. Keep your fingers crossed that the puke-a-thon is over.
