Rainy Saturday

It's raining in OKC right now. Lovely, wet, overcast weather that makes you want to do nothing except lay about and read.

But we didn't do that today. Instead we went to the Integris Health employee outing/picnic. It was held at the Oklahoma City Zoo and the Omniplex this year. Duncan prefers it to be at Frontier City but that's where the thing was last year so we got the Zoo and Omniplex combo this year.

It was a perfect day for being outdoors because the rain didn't hit until around 3 pm and we got to the Zoo a little after 10 am. My mom and Duncan's friend, Ryan, came with us. We only walked around the Zoo until about 11:30. The free lunch of hot dogs or sliced BBQ beef was there so after we ate we headed over to the Omniplex and Ryan and Duncan got to fiddle with all the science gadgets.

My mom took Cal into the small kids play area and I sat down in an out-of-the-way spot with the stroller and read my book (Affinity by Sarah Waters).

Mom must not have heard me when I told her where I'd be because I ended up getting a lot of reading done until I realized she and Cal had moved on without me. It turns out she had been wandering around with him looking for me. She always forgets that she has her cell phone and could have called me to see where I was.

We tracked down Mike and the other two boys and left the Omniplex around 2:30 so they could go and see School of Rock. We owed Duncan a movie since the last couple of movie outings have been adults only and he's been dying to see that one. I wouldn't have minded seeing it but I stayed home with Cal so he could nap. I napped a little too which was so nice.
