Another Calvin Story

Cal loves to hug kids. He'll walk right up to kids he doesn't even know and give 'em a big ol' squeeze. As you may have guessed this usually scares the crap out of the kid he hugs or, in most cases, tries to hug.

Today at McDonald's we were letting him wander around the play area. He gets really excited by all of the other kids and will jabber at them and sometimes just let out with a joyous yell. This one little girl who looked to be a few months younger than Cal was walking around unsteadily and he decided she would be a likely candidate for a hug.

Unfortunately just as he went for her, she slipped away. Persistent little turd that he is, he followed. I followed as well but I wasn't quick enough because as I turned the corner I saw him grab the little girl for a big Cal-sized hug. Being newly bipedal she promptly fell backwards taking Cal with her.

Needless to say, having 25+ pounds of little boy fall on her didn't make her very happy. Nor did the fact that she conked her head on the ground as she fell backwards. I felt kinda bad and Cal was a little mystified I could tell. I could almost hear his little baby thoughts, "Hey, hugs are good. What's the problem?"
