Waiting for Saturday

As I get older I get a lot pickier about the concerts I'll attend. Of course, living in Oklahoma means it's easy to be picky because nobody really comes here. The last concert I attended was Evanescence at the Diamond Ballroom in OKC. They were on a bill with three other bands and the venue was standing room only. It wasn't horribly crowded but standing around for two hours gets old pretty quick when you're my age. And I wish the sound quality had been better. When any of the bands spoke to the audience it sounded like the buzzing of very angry bees. And, no, I'm not so old I'm losing my hearing. The sound really was awful and if I attend another concert at that venue I can only hope it was a fluke.

But, this upcoming Saturday I am going to drive for approximately an hour and a half to see that maven of the hard scrabble life lyric, Lucinda Williams. I'm not sure Mike is as enamored of her as I am but he's a good guy and is always willing to indulge me. And I'm sure the prospect of a night away from kids doesn't hurt.

Now if P.J. Harvey would just pick up on my mental projections and develop an overwhelming urge to play somewhere near Oklahoma I would be a happy woman indeed.
