Labor Day Fun
Well, it's been a lazy Labor Day here at the Hodge Lodge. Mike and Duncan slept until about 9:30 (Cal and I were up by 7:45). While they were sleeping, I moved the STAR OKC web site to our Cox web space since we don't need it.
The STAR site was set up on Angelfire by the old webmaster and that was okay. I have no problem with the free space providers. Well, Geocities' annoying corner pop-ups bother me. But just within the last week Angelfire made it to where you can't choose to have pop-up ads *or* banner ads on your site. Now you get both. I really can't blame them too much though. I know pop-up blocker software is becoming more prevalent. Heck, I'm even using some. And I loooove not getting pop-ups.
Yesterday Mike set us up with a new web space provider, www.addr.com, and with the 150 meg we get there I don't see us needing the up to 70 meg we get through Cox any time soon (if ever). So STAR gets to benefit with a faster load time, no bandwidth restrictions (I think) and, best of all, no ads.
The rest of our day has consisted of piddling around. Duncan went with his friend Ryan to Chuck E. Cheese's for lunch. We went with my mom and had lunch at Taco Bueno. Then we headed over to CompUSA to pick up a copy of McAfee Virus Scan 7.0. They're having a special this week where you can essentially get it for free with the manufacturer's rebate. Since we needed to upgrade to the newer version anyway that was too good to pass up.
And then since Best Buy is just a hop-skip-and-a-jump from CompUSA we went in there to browse. I ended up buying Stargate Seasons 1 and 2 for my mom for Christmas but when we got home I noticed that the $10 I was supposed to receive off the price did *not* show up on my receipt so we're gonna have to trek back over there and get them to give some money back.
We also picked up four CDs: the Real Women Have Curves the movie soundtrack, the Freaky Friday movie soundtrack, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes--Have a Ball, and Gold Stars 1992–2002: the Juliana Hatfield Collection.
So right now Duncan and his friend Ryan are playing Soul Calibur 2, Mike and Calvin are taking a nap (Mike's having a nasty allergy attack today) and I am writing in this blog before updating the STAR OKC web site with the September OKC Metro area club meetings. I tell ya we live exciting lives.
