I Love Getting Mail
My Amazon.com order arrived today which is always a cause for celebration. Well, part of it arrived on Friday but that (Red Dwarf Season 1) was John's 2002 Christmas present so it doesn't count. Today the rest of the order arrived and it actually contained things for me. Woo hoo!
The package contained Sarah Waters' two books, Fingersmith and Affinity but I can't read them until I finish The Golden Fool by Robin Hobb. I've been bogged down in the middle of this novel for far too long.
I also got two CDs by Tegan and Sara: If It Was You and This Business of Art. Both are really good if you like jangly guitar pop which I do. And finally, Kathleen's 2002 Christmas present Angel Season 1 completed the order.
You might be wondering why I'm just now getting around to those two 2002 Christmas presents. John and Kathleen have been living in San Francisco for the past few years but they always had the intention of moving back East where they're from. Kathleen missed the seasons. Since the move was scheduled for this summer they asked that I hold off on sending their Christmas presents this year so they wouldn't have to pack them. They've made the move to Vermont and have found a place to live so now they get their presents. Christmas in September! Yay!
Oh, today I also got the Lucinda Williams concert tickets I ordered last week. Mike and I are going to travel to Tulsa to see her at the River Parks Amphitheatre this Saturday. I cannot wait. I figured I would never get a chance to see Lucinda Williams unless I traveled to Dallas but she's actually performing in Oklahoma. Tulsa is only about an hour and a half away which is so much better than the three hours to Dallas. We're still going to make it an overnight trip so we don't have to drive home late Saturday night. An overnight trip without kids! Hooray!
Now I'm just waiting on another book (Different Dress) I ordered through an Amazon.com reseller to arrive. It's the first time I've used this person but they had a bunch of good feedback so I think I'm safe. I haven't been burned yet by anyone selling used books through Amazon.com *knock wood*. Oh, and there is that Toys in Babeland order that should be winging its way here but the less said about that the better.
