Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig

Well, I'm back from my half day of subbing at Coronado Heights Elementary. It went pretty well although one of the new kids gave me the slip while we were in the lunch room. They refer to him as "the runner." He's quick and can be gone before you know it. Luckily he was discovered and returned to me before panic mode could set in.

Art was the special of the day and it was kinda boring. The kids had to color alternating squares creating a pattern. Only about three of them really got the concept. The other four just scribbled or stared into space. I guess I should mention, I usually only sub in special ed. classes and occasionally P.E. Mostly I sub for my good friend, Tracey, who is a special ed. teacher.

Subbing for special ed. is a fun gig because the kids are really sweet and the class size is small (no more than ten). I didn't do any subbing last year because of Calvin so I've got to get back into the discipline routine.

Afternoons are probably the best time to sub because you've got lunch, recess, rest time, a little class time, specials (p.e., music or art), a little more class time and then they go home. Suh-weet.

Now I'm home and Cal is cranky. He didn't nap much for my mom (only about 40 minutes) which means tonight he's going to be the whiny baby from hell. *sigh* I'm hoping the Tylenol I took a few minutes ago kicks in soon so I don't feel like screaming when the whining sets in.
